Trading since 1971 and a trading name of Pyranha Kayaks, Go Kayaking is one of the most progressive & influential paddlesports shops in the UK, with access to the most knowledgeable minds in the industry. More than that, we’re a close team of passionate paddlers who love the sport providing an excellent customer experience.

Go Kayaking is all about knocking down barriers to participation in paddlesports, and making paddlesports a more inclusive sport and accessible to anyone by providing the best equipment on the market & to provide a service that goes above and beyond to inspire participation in paddlesports.

We have two waterside stores: one in Runcorn which specialises in Sea, Rec, Touring & SUP, and one in Llangollen which specialises in Whitewater.

We are currently looking for three new staff members to join our friendly team, with roles available at both our sites.

Full Time

Runcorn: 40 hours (5 days) a week. Monday – Sunday

An experience multi-disciplined paddler with experience in customer facing retail and customer order management. This candidate would work 40 hours a week, 5 days including weekends. The candidate would need to be flexible enough to work at either store as and when required, however the main role will be based in Runcorn.

Part Time:

Runcorn: April – September. Weekend work 1-3 days a week.
We want an enthusiastic paddler to fill in through weekends. Ideal for a hard working student, or someone looking for part time work.

Typically speaking it will be 1 – 3 days a week, but there will be weeks where we will require more or less days. The schedule will be set a month in advanced.

Llangollen: April – September. Flexi 2-3 days a week.
This will be a flexible position and the successful candidate will be required to work between 1 & 5 days a week between Monday – Sunday.

Role Description
Although at different sites, both positions cover similar duties and require the same attributes which we’ve highlighted below.

We would also want candidates to be able tooffer something other than retail experience. Not every day is busy with customers, so offering experience in other aspects will be beneficial to your application, such as digital marketing, SEO, graphic design, social media for business, photography, event planning etc.

Duties

The general day to day running of the shop. This can include (but isn’t limited to);

  • Talking with our customers via any of our sales channels
  • Stock management – which includes booking in stock, putting stock out, arranging our store displays & maintaining and organising the stock room
  • Customer account management – this can include liaising with our suppliers to fulfil orders, keeping customers updated on their order progress, acquiring and following through with sales leads
  • Pick online and phone orders and pack and wrap them ready for mail delivery
  • General on-site maintenance
  • It may be beneficial for you to be able to work at either store for events and cover when needed, as well as attend paddlesports events on behalf of Go Kayaking or Pyranha Mouldings

Essential Attributes

  • Must have multi discipline paddesports experience and a passion for paddling
  • A strong work ethic and a willingness to contribute to all aspects of the work
  • A good level of computer literacy
  • Good intuition and ability to complete tasks to the highest standard

Desired Attributes:

  • Customer facing retail experience
  • Administrative skills
  • Additional experience that you can bring to the company, such as experience in digital marketing, SEO, graphic design, social media for business, photography, event planning etc.

All relevant training will be provided including product training, customer service training & POS training.

Our intended start date for both rolls is April 2024.
